What Is the Aluminum Trail?
During World War II, Allied aircrews flew an extremely difficult air route between India and China. This route later became known as the Hump Route.
Beneath this route lay some of the most unforgiving mountains, valleys, forests, and weather conditions in Asia. Hundreds of aircraft crashed or disappeared there. Many American, Chinese, and other Allied airmen never returned.
Over time, the aircraft wreckage scattered beneath the route became known as the Aluminum Trail. The name came from the aluminum fragments of aircraft scattered across valleys and ridgelines. At times, they reflected sunlight and could even be seen from the air.
For us, the Aluminum Trail is not a marketing phrase.
It is a place of memory, loss, courage, and unfinished history.
What Does “Aluminum Trail Field Approved” Mean?
Products marked with Aluminum Trail Field Approved have been worn, used, and reviewed by members of the Back to the Hump field team during humanitarian search and remembrance work along the former Hump Route.
This mark does not mean that we have turned history into a slogan.
It means the product has served in real fieldwork.
It means the product has been used in real mountain conditions: rain, mud, steep slopes, dense forests, difficult terrain, and long days in the field.
The honor belongs to those who served.
The responsibility belongs to us.
Every product carrying this mark must meet a simple standard:
Reliable in the field.
Respectful of history.
Built with purpose.
We believe a product should do more than perform.
It should serve a purpose beyond itself.
